Anesthesia
Liposuction of the neck generaly takes place under local anesthesia with sedation. However, in some cases, a general anaesthesia is preferred. The choice of the technique will be made between you, your anesthesiologist and your surgeon.

The day of the procedure
The incisions are short (about 3 or 4 millimeters) and discreet. They are hidden in the crease under the chin. They will gradually disappear in 2-3 weeks and will become almost invisible after a year.
A cannula is inserted through this punctiform opening to aspirate the excess fat.
The quantity extracted must of course be adapted to the quality of the overlying skin, which is one of the determining factors in the quality of the result.
The scar is usually closed with non-absorbable sutures so as not to mark the skin. A compressive cervical bandage is applied at the end of the operation to limit postoperative oedema. The duration of the procedure varies according to the quantity of fat to be extracted. It lasts on average between 30 minutes and an hour.
After the procedure
Neck liposuction is a minimally painful aesthetic procedure, and you can leave the clinic the same day.
Ecchymoses (bruises) and edema (swelling) may appear and will disappear within ten to twenty days following the procedure.
You will be able to resume normal activity 2 to 10 days after the procedure, depending on social and professional activity. Avoid exposing this part to sunlight or UV rays for at least 1 month.
Results
To appreciate the final result of the neck liposuction, it will be necessary to wait for the complete resorption of the oedema. With thin-skinned patients, an appreciable final result can be seen after six weeks, and after around three months with thicker, firmer skin.
