Buttock lipofilling is performed as an outpatient procedure under general anaesthesia, as several anatomical sites are involved during the same operation.

During the first stage of the procedure, the surgeon will harvest the fat using a non-traumatic micro-cannula from the donor areas defined during the consultation with the patient.

In all cases, the surgeon will perform liposuction of the fat from the flanks (love handles) to create an attractive curve of the lower back, then suction the contours of the buttock to give it a more appealing, rounder shape. Saddle bags are systematically suctioned if they are too pronounced.

The choice of donor sites also depends on the amount of fat deemed necessary.
The fat is centrifuged to collect only the fat cells (adipocytes).

The surgeon reinjects the fat in several layers through micro-incisions, using fine cannulas. Part of the fat is injected into the the buttocks muscles .

The scars are almost invisible. Their number depends on on the number of areas to be aspirated. There are usually 2 scars per buttock, corresponding to the passage of the fat injection canula. They measure less than 1 mm, and are therefore almost invisible.

The duration of the procedure depends on the number of donor sites and the amount of fat to be transferred. It may vary from 1 hour 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on the case.

Pain is generally moderate, more pronounced in the suctioned areas, and will be relieved with simple analgesics.

Any edema on the donor areas and the breasts disappear between 1 and 3 months, as for bruises disappear after a few weeks. It is recommended to rest for one week after the operation and to stop sports activities for up to 3 months if they involve the buttocks.

An elastic compression garment must be worn for 4 weeks after buttock augmentation surgery.

You will have to sleep on your stomach during the first days after surgery and to sit on the lower part of the buttocks or on the thighs for the 3 first post-operative weeks. Manual lymphatic drainage sessions from the first days, followed by Endermologie® drainage will accelerate the resorption of edema and optimize healing.

The result can be seen from the first month, and the final result will be assessed after 6 months, once the fat that has not taken has been resorbed.

Since the grafted fat is alive and dependent on weight variations, the patient must ensure that she does not lose weight in order to maintain the volume of her buttocks. On the other hand, it will tend to increase if the patient gains weight.
